![]() Throwing some xIce 2 winter tires turned it into a winter tank. I regularly drive down forest service roads, on snow and ice on steep roads in the mountains, and this thing has exceeded my expectations, and those were already quite high. Adaptive cruise control, good sound system, and keyless entry are all things I didn't expect to enjoy so much, but I love them. I'm still giddy everytime I drive it, and I am so happy I splurged on the bells and whistles. Picked up a 2018 3.6R Limited almost a year ago after lurking for years as well. Given my intended usage, can someone help me cut through the sales noise to tell me what I should look for and what I should avoid? Any optimal configuration suggestions? Im not going the route of buying a used vehicle because of the scarcity and what looks like straight line depreciation for outbacks around here. Aftermarket is totally fine with me as long as the quality is there. I’m also mindful that there are useful accessories that could add up to thousands at the dealership (floor mats, etc). My concern here is that this could get spendy if the options that I want get bundled with a lot that I don’t need. This car will get used pretty hard and I’m not one to wash the car weekly. Other than that - let’s say that this is not an outback that will stay on paved roads, and while I don’t ski, I do like trips to the snow (I’m in CA). I hate Nav systems because I think they age quickly and can’t compete with google or apple. ![]() ![]() What I know is this: leather seats make sense to me because I think they wear well, and I want the safety technologies that come with the higher trim levels. That said, its time to do the deed and I’m hoping you knowledgeable souls can help me with configuration, instead of my spending 2 months parsing sales brochures and calling dealerships. I admit it that a bit of this has to do with style - lovely though that 4wd +mpg is, I’m not a massive fan of the immediate 10 years that I feel like I add to my perceived age when I buy one. ![]() I’m the world’s most painstaking decision-maker, which means that for most of the past six years I’ve been reading way too much about how great the outback is without pulling the trigger. ![]()
